Defenders know this all to well, and with endurance and positioning at the base of their game, Leicester City’s Head of Fitness and Conditioning has devised this drill to ensure you’re up to the task of holding off any last-minute attacks.

With a friend, mark out a slalom using cones or poles to weave in and out of. Clear your lines with a powerful header away from danger, before cutting out a through ball and dropping deep with a recovery run. Try and repeat this drill as many times as you can, while the difficulty can be enhanced by increasing the distances.
